Prosperity Advisers Group is proud to announce that Director Alex Hardy has been named Auditor of the Year at the Australian Accounting Awards, held on Friday night at The Star Casino in Sydney in front of around 500 of the profession's leading practitioners.
In addition to taking out his category, Alex was also presented with the night's top honour, the Excellence Award, recognising him as the standout individual across all award categories for the evening.
The Auditor of the Year award recognises technical excellence, client impact, leadership and innovation in the audit profession, while the Excellence Award is presented to the individual judged to have made the most outstanding contribution across all categories on the night.
Alex has built his career at Prosperity from the ground up, joining the firm straight from high school as a trainee. Since then, he has lived and worked across each of Prosperity's three office locations in Newcastle, Sydney and Brisbane, completed a secondment with the firm's Dutch LEA member firm in the Netherlands, and represented Prosperity as a Young Professional delegate at several international conferences.
Earlier this year, Alex was appointed Principal of Prosperity's Newcastle office, where he leads a growing team delivering audit and assurance services to a portfolio of mid-market businesses, family groups, government entities and not-for-profit organisations across Australia.
Reflecting on the win, Alex said the recognition belonged to the wider team and the clients he works alongside.
"I'm genuinely humbled by this recognition. Audit is a team sport, and none of this happens without the people I work with every day or the trust our clients place in us," Mr Hardy said. "Prosperity has given me the opportunity to grow, take on new challenges and work across the country and overseas. I'm proud to lead our Newcastle office and excited about where we can take our audit practice from here."
Prosperity CEO Allan McKeown said the recognition was a fitting endorsement of Alex's contribution to the profession and to the firm.
"Alex's passion and energy are contagious, and his thinking around technology and business development are hallmarks of his success," Mr McKeown said. "To be recognised as Auditor of the Year by his peers, and then to receive the Excellence Award as the standout individual on the night, is an extraordinary achievement. It's a credit to Alex and a reflection of the kind of careers that can be forged at Prosperity."
The Australian Accounting Awards, run by Accountants Daily, are among the most prestigious recognition programs in the Australian accounting profession, celebrating excellence across individual, team and firm-wide categories.
